Book the Band
Looking for the perfect addition to your next event, celebration, or special occasion? The Bude Metric Brass Band brings a lively and captivating musical experience that will make any gathering or event unique and unforgettable.
Booking Information
We are delighted that you are considering booking Bude Metric Brass Band. The information below is designed to help you understand what to expect and how we can work together to make your event a success.
Performance & Scheduling
- We are happy to fit around other activities taking place at your event and can coordinate with other acts using the same performance space.
- The band is flexible regarding breaks, but would not normally play for more than 90 minutes without a break.
- If the band is part of a wider programme, please ensure our start and finish times are clearly agreed in advance.
Space & Venue Requirements
- The full band typically consists of around 25 players, so a generous performance area is required.
- We need a level, stable surface (indoors or outdoors). Uneven or sloping ground makes safe performance difficult for both players and music stands.
- Chairs are usually provided by the event organiser, although we can supply our own if necessary.
- Some instruments are large and heavy, so nearby vehicle access for unloading is greatly appreciated, ideally with minimal steps between unloading and the performance area.
Licensing & Permissions
Please ensure that your venue:
- Is appropriately licensed for live music and entertainment, or
- Has a Temporary Events Notice (TEN) in place where required. If you are unsure, helpful guidance is available online from Encore Musicians.
Public Events & Promotion
For public performances, we aim to promote events collaboratively with organisers and venues. Experience shows that shared promotion leads to the best outcomes for audiences, venues, and performers.
We kindly ask for your support with the following where possible:
- Create a Facebook Event and add Bude Metric Brass Band as a co-host.
- Tag @Bude Metric Brass Band in relevant social media posts
(please do not use the redundant Facebook page “Bude Metric Brass”). - Share social media posts in the lead-up to the event.
- Include the event on your website, newsletters, or “What’s On” listings.
- Provide us with a copy of your event poster (PDF by email is ideal). Band members will help distribute it.
We also work with Visit Bude / Bude Tourist Information Centre, who can print posters and promote events free of charge. Events can be submitted via their website.

To help audiences plan their visit, please include:
- Accessibility details (e.g. wheelchair access and accessible toilets)
- Parking information
- Clear performance times if the band is part of a larger programme
- Wet-weather contingency plans for outdoor events

A Band for All Audiences
They have been described as “One of the best entertainment brass bands in north Cornwall, able to tackle anything from simple hymns and marches, to popular music, complex overtures, and big band sounds.” They have a wide repertoire that appeals to all ages, and will tailor their programme to suit the audience.
Playing for a Purpose
Bude Metric Brass play in support of charities and other institutions, and have recently presented their own charity concerts. The band do not charge for their services, but rely upon the goodwill of the organisers to make donations, which are then used for the purchase of new music.
